Today In History

On this day in 1701, Captain William Kidd was convicted of Piracy and hanged.

He had pirated French and Armenian ships, as well as killing some of his own crew.

This is interesting because he was doing what a lot of other sailors at the time were doing, and instead of being lauded as a hero, he was hanged as a criminal.

He was left hanged for three years to be seen as an example.
